The couple drove south toward Los Angeles. They got as far as the Petro truck stop near Frazier Park, CA. They were almost out of gas at this point and had a couple of dollars to their names.
While they were there they talked on the phone to the best friend who started to make threats. He said that if the girl didn’t return as soon as possible that he was going to call the cops on them and have them brought back no matter what. The best friend and the guest argued over this for a long time and the best friend also tried to tell the girl that she needed to get home. This was easier as it sounded since they were now stuck in the middle of California with no money and no way to get home.
The girl ended up talking with another friend of hers. This was the same friend that had originally loaned them the money. She got the amount from the guest that it would take to get to the house and the friend told her that she would get it to her but she wanted a promise that a money order would be in the mail as soon as they got to the guest’s house. The girl had no problem with this and again, thought that this was the last time she would have to do this.
It was quite late in the evening before the money was transferred so the couple drove to the parking lot of the Flying J at Frazier Park and spent the night there where the guest swore they would be less likely to be noticed sleeping in a vehicle.
The next morning the guest gave the girl the choice. He said he had talked to the model who wanted them to drive to LA and she would help them out. Or, they could go ahead and go to the house but it was across the Mojave Desert. He said it would be better to go meet with her and get help and then they would all head to the house.
They headed further south and drove over the Grapevine. This is a place in California that it really high and a lot of vehicles end up overheating. It is very well known for that. The girl took some beautiful pictures at the crest of the mountain where she was surprised to see a body of water.
