The next morning the couple got up and joined the family. The girls, Kari and Fawn were thrilled to see the girl. They saw her and ran into her arms. The girl was thrilled. She had not seen them in about 7 months and they remembered her. This was a big deal to her. She had been in both their lives since they had been born. With Kari this was 4 ½ years and with Fawn it was 2 years. It was so nice to be home.
The girl called her parents and told them she was home. She also talked with her mother about where to get help with food and financially and how she could/would get around. Her mother told her that she would help her take care of things.
DK and the girl worked on finding out where to get help for the couple. DK was very helpful and together with the help of the girl’s minister they made a list of places to start.
The guest was annoyed with the girl for seeking help. It is interesting when you think about it. He never had a problem asking for help from her friends or making their plight seem horrible so that others would help them out but he didn’t think it was a good idea to seek help from government and religious agencies. It seemed quite strange.
Over the next few days the girl called her work and arranged for her to return to work the next Monday. She visited the YCC for food and clothes and Catholic Community Services for food. DK didn’t mind helping them out with a roof over their heads and food as long as they were doing what they could to help out in return.
