The wedding weekend was fast approaching. The money was not coming and the guest was becoming more and more unbearable to a lot of people in the household. He wanted his way no matter what and when others would contradict him or wanted something different he made sure they knew they were the one who was in the wrong.
There were good and bad days. Finally the weekend of the wedding was upon them. There was no money and the girl had gotten a cut back at her job and her check was not as big as it usually was. The guest thought they should still go to Vegas even though the more they researched it they would not have the money. He had already told DK and Kent that they were coming with them and that the couple was covering their room and expenses. He said they should keep an open mind and that maybe they would work something out.
DK and the girl went dress shopping. It was quickie dress shopping so it might have been more fun but they did still have fun looking. They found a really cute and nice dress that was on sale for prom. They both loved it and they decided that was the one they should go back and get.
The couple booked the rooms in Vegas and rented a car to drive down. DK made arrangements for the kids. After buying the dress and having it fitted they all headed off to Vegas for the weekend.
The weekend was fun. They had just enough money to have some fun and be able to eat. The girl kept trying to talk the guest into eating more cheaply but of course he wouldn’t hear of it and they did spend a lot of money on food.
Saturday night the couple dressed in their ‘wedding’ clothes and they went to take pictures in Caesar’s Palace. The guest told the girl that was going to count as their wedding evening and that they would make it legal when they returned to Utah. He just didn’t want anyone to know they got married in Utah. He talked to Bob on the phone and told him they had gotten married.
The scariest and most humorous part of the weekend was that night when they tried to find Fremont Street. DK and Kent wanted to go so they attempted to find it. They kept driving and finally the guest decided he was done with trying to find it. He turned right and saw a drunk driver stop. He immediately pulled off to the side of the road and got out telling the girl that she was going to drive. He said he was not going to jail because the car was rented in her name. As he came around the car, a motorcycle cop stopped him. He asked what he was doing. He told the cop that the car was rented and not in his name. The cop told him they didn’t care about that. They only cared if someone was drinking. Ironically he was the only one in the car who had not drunk that night.
Because of the physical ailments of the guest, he could not pass any of the typical tests they give to possible drunk drivers. He had bad knees and a heart condition. The cop put him through all the tests. After he passed them all he gave him a breathalyzer test. He actually tested him twice because he didn’t believe it the first time. The cop finally let him go.
The guest still made the girl drive. She had to go past the checkpoint. She got yelled at by the guest when she answered ‘yes’ to the question as to whether she had been drinking or not. She had a half a drink before dinner several hours before. She knew if they smelled any alcohol on her breath she could get in trouble for lying to a cop. The cop looked in her eyes and asked her a few questions and let them go because of course she was sober. All the way back to the hotel the girl was yelled at for saying ‘yes’.
Before they went to bed that night the guest watched over the girl’s shoulder as she talked with friends on Facebook and made sure she told them that they had gotten married.
